Let the indoor sessions begin

With over a foot of snow on the ground street riding has become impossible..So this week will be indoor park session week!

Black Diamond skate park at Moorestown Mall session going on thursday around 12:30 or 1. My truck is already full but if you can get a ride out there definitely come and hit it up.

Friday is the long overdue Franklin Mills Woodward session. I'm driving up with Gettings and I'm not sure who else he has in the vehicle. So again, try to get a ride out there. Not sure about times or anything like that but I'll post em up on here A.S.A.P..

If you have nothing to do check out this video.

Apple Pie Hill

Walter Hummel and I took a trip out to Apple Pie Hill today. It was a real good time and we got too explore some super cool parts of the Wharton State Forest. We took a few wrong turns but made it there in one piece. We met these dudes who hiked 16 miles from Batsto to get there which is pretty gnarly. After all the fun we couldn't find where I had parked my truck so it turned into this...

neither of us made it out alive

quickie

Brandon went out and made this video in the matter of a few hours. It's pretty ill, check it out.

Progress

Alas the tables have turned in our favor, as I type this Mike is finishing capturing tape 5 of 6 of all the footage for the DVD, we've had a pretty good bit of snags, the inability to capture our tapes has been one of the biggest, but we have persisted and are overcoming. To quote the man behind the video, "This has been the worst three hours of his life; I'm excited to be getting this all done..faggots. Now I get to spend the next three weeks of his life making everybody look like shredders." Expect a full interview soon

A new hope...

Gettings got the hook up with another mini dv camera, it's dead right now but the charger for the ZR850 should fit it and we will HOPEFULLY be good to go with capturing footage off of the tapes.
I'm not gonna lie, without Gettings this video would have probably never gotten done and I don't care what they say about him, he's a good guy haha. If you want to know what's going on in his crazy mind check this. You can also click on the link on the left side of the page titled working man shreds. Gettings really started to put in work towards the last few months of filming, he progressed a lot and began firing out some really nice clips, so be ready for his section in the DVD because I'm definitely stoked for it.

I don't know if many of you have seen this video, I put it together a while ago on my 2nd vimeo account that I forgot the password too. It's pretty much just Matt riding his ramps for a few hours set to some Led Zep.

Photobucket

This is an icepick on a rail/ledge in Cape May. If it weren't 29 degrees that day there would be a lot more pictures and footage from that day. That's definitely a place to check out around the spring months so the salty ocean air isn't as rough on our bodies.

Whackness

As if the video hasn't had enough issues...
The tape upload with Gary D fell through today so we have no way of uploading over 5 hours of footage...
If you know anybody with a camera that works with MiniDV tapes get a hold of them.

The video probably won't be out by the Christmas deadline that I had originally set, but filming is definitely finished.

I'll do write ups later

Piney BMX welcomes summer from piney bmx on Vimeo.

blah blah blah

lol Jon Clayton

bits and pieces

Louis's part is 99% finished! There are a few clips on the tapes that will probably make it into his part so I had to leave a little room for rearrangement. Spoiler alert, he has the first section in the video. I couldn't think of a better way to start off the video.
Tomorrow is the big day, all the clips are finally getting uploaded off of Nick's camera so it's official filming is seriously done now haha. I'm not accepting any clips past Friday so anybody that has clips on their computer that they would like in this video get it on a flash drive and get it to me by then.

Day 5...

2005? Let's see...Nick Capaldi had a bright yellow haro, I was learning how to 180 with Richie, Louis Kerekes had a bike that weighed more than he did, Gettings was still a good ass dude, John Griffin's S&M black bike only had one coat of pain on it, Billy Brown lived in Berlin, Mike Staveckas had a 4 door Sedan instead of a monster truck, Josh Vodopija was popping wheelies at the Nesco Firehouse, Matt Mazzone was getting a handjob somewhere and Shmeagle was as big as a baby deer.

This video was a tear jerker..Filled wit great memories with the guys who taught me everything I know about bmx. At 1:41 I wish I could remember what Jon and Emory were talking about, but it doesn't look very comfortable. Tons of crashing and a lot of stuff that would take way too long to speculate.

big news in Nesco!!!

I just farted and made my dog throw up

That's a wrap...

Filming is done...

Most of the guys spent the last day at the EHT Bike Track.
I personally wanted to shoot myself but everybody else seemed to be having a pretty good time. A lot of guys showed up, including the EHC crew, Little Matt Marrero, A couple of guys from EHT, and even a few cats from Hammonton poked their heads in there. Matt Mazzone, Nick C, Little Matt and I took a ride over to ACS to ride some "street." On the way there we got chased by what may have been the meanest Poodle I've ever seen in my life while cutting through some kids yard. There wasn't much but we made do with what we had, next time we're out there a piece of plywood is necessary for what will be a pretty sick session. Whatever school that is next to the bike track had some decent stuff to shred but nothin too big went down. All in all it was just a fun day with friends and although I wish we could have gotten a few more clips, today was pretty successful.

So now what is there left to do? Wednesday Gettings and I are going over Gary D's crib in Vineland to upload over 5 tapes worth of footage. Then as soon as we have the 2nd hard drive full of bmx goodness, full on editing begins. I've already messed with a lot of sections but now it's for real. I hope everybody is down with how I make this video, I'm doing my best to make everybody look like a boss. I'll go as far as saying there are no friends sections, 2 different town mixed sections, another sections that lasts a whopping 23 seconds and a Mullica park mixed section that will hopefully bring a tear to your eye since our beloved local park has been gone for so long. Right now I'm writing down every name or group that has ever been involved with Piney and the list is looooong. The credits will be a nice look back on great times we've had as a group of friends and shredders.

I'll wrap this up before the rambling begins.
I'm not going to put an exact date on it, but I'm hoping to have a video premiere during Christmas Break. There are a few places I have in mind for the premiere but more details will be released at a later date.

I'm also going to throw the nostalgia videos up on this post because I don't feel like doing another one tonight..

This video is pretty embarrassing I won't lie. Chock full of indian givers and not much else. The ender was an accident that lead me to learn all the fastplant tricks that I know now. It's mostly re-used clips because then as well as now I don't produce too much.

I thought this was a good idea, though everybody else thought it was gay. It's just a bunch of pictures from 2007-2008. Check it out

Day 4..

"yeah baby, world champions.."
Both of Jon's Icepick's blew everybodys mind when he did them, and if you listen when he eats it on the picnic table you can hear Sarah Bonthrom screaming haha.
The wild black dude rapping way too loud at the rec.
Some more footage of Shmeagle with no pants on..
Mike Romanelli taking an insanely large bite out of his chicken cheese steak at Farmer John's then banged out a 270 to fakie indian giver.
Look how small the dirt jumps were back then, and we totally thought they were the shit.
My wallride to manual 180 took around 700 trys.
Also features a song jack from Innocent Bystander well before I knew what an Innocent Bystander was, so sorry about that..

Creamy and I said, hey let's make a split video, so we did..
I'm not talented enough on a bank to fill half a section so I let him do most of the work on the ol' starter ramp. I originally wanted to call this video "Getting extremely Creamy" but decided against it haha. The best part is Creamy with the howler monkey yell at the end

Day 3..

A summer/winter full of pain from piney bmx on Vimeo.

This video was a hit on the Gadfly. There is actually an entire story behind the 2nd clip. Clayton and I had skipped school that day to go build at Dustins. We made an entire set from 6 in the morning to 1 pm. Then we rode our bikes to the skatepark to get some sick footage for the Crew video. I wound up busting my chin and he snapped his chain, neither of us could ride home. So he called up his brother Cory, Cory took us to Wal*mart so Jon could "buy" another chain and some allen keys haha.
Another one of my favorite clips is Jon doing a full blown body slam into the St. Joe wallride. He had already done it really high but I wasn't filming, so he went for it again and body checked it insanely hard.
Nick's infamous "ow my ass" clip makes an appearance.
Billy ate major shit at Hess about a day before Christmas, we then went home and made a grind box that eventually turned into the hip transfer on Josh's miniramp

I legitimately thought I tore my ACL on that first manual. 4 out of the 10 names don't ride anymore. A few of the clips happened on January 1st, I remember because we all just spent new years over Mike Romanelli's house and Cody Meyer almost died because he was pouring gasoline on an open fire. He then tried to fill a bucket with holes in the bottom with water to put it out, Mike and Kyle put it out and are now Volunteer Fire Fighters haha. Nick Byers had a Mexican stache at 1:32. Dustin's cousin Harry was down for a little while and blew all of our minds with his dirt steeze and tricks. I was hoping to get more footage with him and Dustin for the DVD but Dustin got hurt and Harry has been down in Florida. Notice the video was supposed to be OUT by April 2010...There weren't enough clips to even put out a half decent web video by then haha

Quick Louis K interview

Q:I’ve noticed you’ve been riding more and more, how stoked are you on getting out more now-a-days?

Q:Your part in ‘Good Enough For Who It’s For’ was pretty gnarly, how do you plan to one up that section in the Piney DVD?
A:I don't think I can get any better then that part hahah.. well maybe a 270 instead of a 180 would be pretty GNAR

Q:Waaaay back in the day I remember you rode with a helmet. Was there any reason for that or did you just have enough brains to protect yourself?

A:No, I just wear the helmet on my other head

Let’s wrap this interview up..

Q:Do you have any words for up and coming riders?

A:Just stay motivated, and you can't give up.

Q:How about some famous last words to live by?

A:Live, learn, and ride.

It's too cold for dis

Let's keep it coming with the Nostalgic theme.

"It's too cold for this"
I don't remember too much of this day but I do remember riding that fly out jump for hours on end with Nick Capaldi and Mike Romanelli.

It's Nick Capaldi day on pineybmx.blogspot.com! Here are Nick's scrap clips from well over a year ago, it's amazing to see how someone can progress the way he has. I hope you enjoyed the Indian Givers, bow legged table tops, and orange forks. Also take note that 74% of the clips in this video took place at spots that either don't exist anymore or have been completely renovated.

Let the countdown begin...

I'm hoping to have this video finished by Christmas break. That gives me 20 or so days of editing, DVD authoring and duplications. Sometime soon all the tapes are getting uploaded over Gary D's house, hopefully that will be enough to close out a lot of the sections because a few guys (myself included) have some voids in their parts.

Instead of a new teaser for the DVD, I'm going to post all of the old videos from all the different youtube accounts I have on here as well as a few from Gettings and Shmeagle, along with a little write up about each video. I might do something like 1 or 2 a day simply because I can't remember how many there are.

We might as well start with the beginning..

The first official Piney BMX web video, featuring my favorite introduction to any of the videos I put together, a song jack from Jackass the movie, Billy Brown in baggy jeans, Shmeagle's imfamous "Hey Girls" at the Mullica skatepark, Mike Romanelli barking at his bike after eating shit on a 180, myself punching my front tire because I wasn't good enough to half cab onto the mini ramp and Jon Clayton breaking his ankle without realizing it.

In my opinion the best web video we put out

Piney BMX October video was supposed to be the first of many monthly web videos. Josh Vodopija, Mike Staveckas and Matt Gettings make their first appearance in a Piney video and have since become 2 of the main guys in our little crew. Josh got his mini ramp days before we started filming for this which may make you feel nostalgic seeing that ramp so nice and smooth. Nick Capaldi used to do bow legged tabletops which everybody still thought was the shit back then. Nick Byers before he was known as "Creamy" still skated and wasn't jacked, I almost forgot how nice he was on the 4 wheels. This video also features my most favorite 1-up off all time, Shmeagle and Kyle Kaenzig 180ing up the banks in EHC, I laugh every time I see it. My first hop into a manual 180 was the banger...we all know where that lead too haha. "Be on the lookout for the November/December video coming 2009"...sadly that never happened, Winter took it's toll and we produced a 19 second video 2 months later demonstrating why we couldn't which you will see in the next post.

I hope you enjoyed my commentary on these videos, and if you didn't suck it just watch the videos and look back on the past 2 years.

Rain

Today was supposed to be the last day of filming..but the rain had other plans. There is a rain cloud above Hammonton until thursday so that will be the last day to bang anything out. I know Shaun, Josh and Nick Capaldi all have some serious stuff in mind and I'm sure Kyle Smith will do something pretty ridiculous. Hopefully Max can get out there and show us how to use pegs at the ol' 777 building.

Last Sunday after the mandatory Shred Shack meeting a bunch of guys hit up some Mays Landing street. Mostly the schools which actually produced some really nice clips. I was very surprised because I've been riding out there for a long time and never rode any of those set ups.
Photobucket
Mazzone took it pretty hard at Oakcrest. So did Josh but unfortunately it didn't happen on film so no skaetched out cell phone screen shot.

There may be a few more trips on Matt's camera but as of Thursday filming on the zr850 is done!

UPDATE!
Check out this video of Goggles and Joe ripping up some street.
I'm pretty stoked to see the Patriot rail in there. Along with all the other clips in the video as well haha.

Throw back of long lost friend of Piney, Richie Janiszewski.

So it's finally thanksgiving. November 25th. You know what that means? We're close.."Close to what" you might ask? Close to the deadline...but more importantly...close too

Monday, November 22, 2010

Fuck Yeah

I dont know if Gettings is going to do a write up about this so I'll throw a temporary one up here.
Matt put together this video featuring Louis, Matt Marrero, Gettings himself, Me and Goggles. We rode for about 2 1/2 hours or so. Before we went to Stockton, Goggles got the hookups at Burger King which I thought was awesome, mad french fries. Anyway watch this video and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

So much at once

It seems to have dawned on everybody that Deadline is in a few weeks. Those who aren't hurt are throwing down right now. Gettings and Louis have been getting down lately and today they brought me along for the ride..kinda...

I drove them out to Buena and the surrounding area, in return for all the years of them driving me places. I've only ridden Buena a hand full of times and usually only for a half an hour at a time. We spent a few good hours out there searching for spots and having success with that. We also found long lost shredder Dustin Dixon, I haven't rode with that dude in years but he's still got some moves after being out of the game for a while. He showed us this school out there with this real nice loading dock where Gettings got a really sick clip. I did my first ever tooth pick on something above stem height and Louis had a crash that made absolutely no sense at all haha. After a good session we headed to a church with a pretty nice bank, Louis did a really nice 180 which you'll definitely see in his part, he hasn't filmed a filler clip in a long time and I don't see him starting any time soon.

Recently I started filming with Kyle Smith. In the 15 minutes I rode with his he got two pretty legit clips but we were fighting the dark and had to call it quits. He has a few sick clips in mind that I bet you can't wait to see.'Photobucket'

There will be a nice session going on Saturday in Hammonton. Hope to see you there, until next time..keep on shreddin

Pain in the butt...and ankle...and knee...and wrist...and hip

Yesterday Nick Capadli, Billy Brown, Marc Allen and myself went to Ocean City. Little did we know half of the city was under water. Luckily the side that the skate park is on was nice and dry. Although the wind was ripping pretty hard everybody managed to get some real nice riding in. Big Marc learned to drop in on quarters which is mega awesome, personal progression is the best. Nick was throwing bars up, down and over everything in the park and got a few real nice clips. Marc and I went to 3 brothers pizza to grab a slice of pizza the size of three infants, after spending roughly $6,000 on boardwalk pizza we made our way back to the park where Erik Sammartino was ripping with Nick and Billy. I swear to god that dude rules, I'm pretty sure it was a simple warm up session for him and he was throwing down some real good stuff. 180 drop in was a stand out in my eyes. Also he was just in the November issue of RideBMX magazine which is super dope.Photobucket
(Sick nasty rail hop.)

Billy got some real nice boost clips over the hip and did a pretty steezy railride. I went for a line involving smiths and five four oh's, let's just say I'm not really good and under rotated which bent my wrist back well beyond it's usual bending point. Minutes before that Billy went for one of his patented air bike jerkers, but he never brought the bike back and landed funny. Evidently he tore ligaments in his knee and it's full of water which is never good. He will be out of riding for a little while which is a total bummer, especially since he never got to film his banger :(.

To continue with more bad news, Matt Gettings lovable Blazer is out of commission for a while. We were shredding Clayton skatepark for a few hours and when we decided to go ride some street out that way his truck broke down 200 feet after leaving the parking lot of the park. Even more bad news, my infamous Red Rocket is having trouble shifting. I can only go 45 mph which is a problem on the White Horse Pike. All of this shit has to happen during the last few weeks of filming of course.

On a lighter note, Matt and Brandon are now putting together videos for Shred Shack. The one day edit came out really nice and since then they put together another one.
If you have a youtube account go subscribe to shredshacksoldiers. They also have a Vimeo account. Give them both an add. I'm pretty sure once filming for the Piney DVD has ceased, more filming for Shred Shack is going to go down and I'm way suped on that since I don't have to edit anything!

Shred Shack bro

Last Sunday was one of the most productive days filming-wise in a long time. The shred shack crew minus Joe and Brandon went out to Amanda's field. A lot of good stuff went down and Matt Mazzone was there to document it. Here's a video he made of clips he got from that day, riders include Nick Capaldi, Myself(Mike Ware), Jeremy Kauffman, Matt Marrero, Victor Behm and Stephen Carty.

5 tapes

Filled up the 5th tape today, they are sadly still just sitting next to my computer with no way of being uploaded. If there is no chance of them being uploaded I'm going to just make an intense web video with everybody's best clips but it seems like that would be a waste since we've been filming for so long.
Some bad news, Brandon Bunting is the final Mays Landing rider to go down. He destroyed his hip doing what would have been an insane grind combination in Philly. He's off his bike for two weeks which really puts a damper on the Stereotyped section. He'll attempt to bang out as many clips as possible in the 10 days he has back on the bike but I just don't see a full section happening. I think Mazzone is going to be good to ride a few days before the deadline so hopefully he'll be able to get his banger before November 30th.
I witnessed one of the sickest hops of my life the other day at Nick Capaldi's house. If you haven't heard about it you'll just have to wait till the video drops because it's definitely amazing.

Everybody's clockin some last minute footage which is pretty dope. I'm lookin to pick up a few more clips with a few amigos like Matt Marrero, Max Loomis, Shaun Thompson and Kyle Smith to finish up another section I've had in mind so if you guys are reading this make sure we get some clips soon.

Don't forget to turn your clocks back an hour. An extra hour of sleep but one less hour of daylight. I'm not sure I like that too much..

Website for Franklin Mills Skatepark

This is the link to Franklin Mills Skate Park's website. Anybody who has any interest in attending a trip up there should print one out right now and get it signed for future reference. To everyone under 18, you need to have it notarized, which means its signed by your parent in front of somebody who has the authority to witness it. Your parents should know where you can get it done. The link for the waivers are on the left hand side.

Directing is hard

There have been so many shitty things happening lately. Mazzone got real sick and wasn't supposed to ride for a month, then he rode anyway and now he has a ruptured ligament in his ankle and will be in a boot for at least 3 weeks. So right there the Matt Mazzone/Brandon Bunting split part is out the window. There was still hope for a Mays Landing part with Mr. Joseph North being the gnarliest rider ever I was sure he'd be able to clock at least a minute worth of footage in the time left, but as you can see in a previous post he has broken his ankle. I'm not sure how long he's out but I'm guessing it will be at least a little bit past November 31st. Right now Brandon is still trying to push out a good part and doing a good job of it. Banged out a few good clips at the newest "street" spot in Mays Landing while I had a broken chain and Mazzone watched with his torn up ankle. Matt got what might be his last clip for the DVD in today since he won't be able to ride with us for a while, but he did it was steez and a dope leather jacket.
I'm thinkin there are going to be a lot fewer full sections then previously expected. I'm sure I sound like a broken record but it's a cold hard fact. A lot of guys just couldn't make it on a few of the trips and hence they don't have enough clips. But a wise man once said Quality over quantity...(tity lolz) and the clips that most everybody got were pretty dope and all have their own little story if that makes any sense. There are a lot of holy-shit-I-can't-believe-I-landed-that's in the video and that's pretty awesome in my opinion.
Max has been killing it lately and I'm hoping to get him out on a few more trips because I love filming with him. He makes everything he does look easy. It's possible that there will be a Hammonton crew part but I don't know, i don't want to make a friends section because we're all just friends. There are no superiors just guys that wound up getting more clips than others. it goes back to the old Myspace quote from 2007 "We aren't confined to being a team, but just a bunch of guys that share the same love of simply riding a bike"
It's definitely not going to be like most bike videos. At least 5 different types of cameras, 5 different file types, some widescreen some full screen. A very different introduction that nobody outside of our crew will understand. But I wouldn't trade any of it for the world, it's been some of the funnest years I've had filming with all of the guys reading this. We've made some friends, lost some friends, been through injuries, been through bullshit but in the end we'll have a gay little bike video too look back in the future and go, "hey I had some fun with those guys."

Treinta y quatro días de rodaje siguen siendo

A lot of frantic riding has been going down lately. 34 days until filming is shut down :(. Only Gettings and Billy have just about wrapped up their sections with the exception of a few more recent clips that would boot a few old clips out. I'm excited to see what Mike, Matt, and Louis got filmed up in NY and Northern Jersey. As optimistic as I am about this video I really don't think there are going to be too many full parts, I doubt this will take the integrity of the video away since it never had any to begin with but I'm sure a few of the guys will be bummed. I know Josh is about to get out more and start throwing down and I'm pretty excited about that because I love anything wreck te tech tech and he usually brings that to the table.
Some bad news on the split section, Matt Mazzone won't be able to ride too hard for a while due to illness and now he destroyed his ankle so wish him well when you get a chance. Luckily Joe has began to get some clips with us so there is still a possibility for a Stereotyped section ;).
I think I'm more stoked on the friends section since there are two big time shredders (amongst other very talented guys) down to let me use some clips they have picked up with Gettings or myself behind the lens.
Shaun's riding more and more now so hopefully he'll be able to clock a little bit more footage before the deadline. Injuries have really set things back a lot, but the deadline is pretty serious. I'm trying to get over this project and on to the next one. I'm pretty sure Gettings is trying to make a sweet South Jersey mix tape at some point after the DVD is out so bang out clips for the DVD then think of some more for that jawnsy jawn.
The Shred Shack website is up and running...kind of...it's in it's real early stages. http://www.shredshackboardshop.com/
ch-ch-check it out

I'm pretty sure these guys have no idea who we are but friend of Piney BMX Rob "Goggles" Peffer makes an appearance in this web video for PBBMX. I've been excited to see footage of that hop at Stockton for ages.

Mullica Jam video

Brandon put a few of the clips that went down at the latest Mullica jam into this nice little edit. I've never seen anybody do Goggle's banger in person. Big ups to Big Marc for helping film most of the clips while Brandon was hurt.

Straight Trippin!

This weekend Mike S, Louis, and myself did a weekend trip up to NYC and North Jersey. We dodged some traffic, talked to old ass ladies, watched some Notorious B.I.G, got a couple flat tires, and we somehow happened to run into Bob Scerbo and got to kick it with him for a little bit. Besides for being one of the sickest street riders of all time, hes a mad down to earth earth dude and was cool enough to take the time to show us a couple spots. The next day consisted of some skate park shreddin and more goofing off . It was a pretty great time, and hopefully more of such trips will ensue.

Riding with the old men

Sunday is Shred Shack day! The team meets out at the shop then we head over to some poor innocent skatepark, and then take it's innocence. Yesterday was Ocean City for the 2nd time. Steve Carty was throwin down some impressive skateboard maneuvers as was everyone else. Steve has stuck out the most in my eyes lately
Photobucket
(Yes I realize this is not Ocean City skate park)
After the park session Mazzone, Billy and I hit up a few stair sets. 2 crashes and one nice clip later we went back to Mays Landing where we met up with Mike Staveckas at Duberson. Eventually Gettings came out with Louis and they filmed a few things on the infamous Duberson 3 stair.

Sunday night went out with Mike Staveckas, Matt Gettings and Louis Kerekes to Egg Harbor City. Needless to say the old heads still got the moves. It's the first time I rode with Louis since the last Philly trip and right now he's sitting on a pretty sick clip at the Wachovia bank, he came close to pulling it a few times but the darkness got the better of him and he decided to call it a night after trying it at least 10 times. Mike got a few nice clips behind Incollingoes, it's awesome that he's racking up the clips now. I can't wait to start puttin his clips into the section I've started. I'm pretty sure Matt Gettings invented a trick last night, I know I've never seen it in all my years of riding or watching videos so we're both pretty stoked on that clip haha. I was peer pressured into doing a gap to double pegger at the Mcdonalds bike rack, I swear to god I only know 5 tricks.

4 tapes and counting

The tapes are piling up next to my computer desk. I honestly don't remember half of the thing we've filmed over the past months but I know I was stoked on it when we recorded it so I don't see how that can change. Filming with a lot of different guys has gone down lately, Matt Mazzone, Max Loomus, and Joe North have been piling up clips which is super rad. Shaun Thompson was well on his way to getting a full section in the video but his foot decided to break so I think he's out for a few weeks which is a total bummer. I'm currently talking to a few more guys and seeing if they would like to get a few good clips for the DVD but I won't drop any names since nothing is set in stone.
There is a Black Diamond trip going down either Friday or Sunday. Don't go to school Friday and find a way out there because I doubt there will be anybody in there during regular school/work hours plus Sunday sessions suck anyway. Make sure you get a hold of either me or Gettings if you're trying to shred Friday.

Now for the Recap of recent shredding:

The Shred Shack team went out to Goshen skatepark last Sunday to clock some footage and pictures for the website. I took that opportunity to nab a few clips with our guys as well. Josh did a real nice line on the mini ramp (Go Figure) Billy Brown went real high up (Go Figure) Nick Capaldi did some nose tricks (Go Figure) I did a few manual 180's(Go Figure) Joe North spun off of something high (Go Figure) and Matt Mazzone got his intro to Brandon and his section.
Not too long after that a few dudes got together in Mays Landing to ride a little street. New things are STILL being done out there, Joe got himself a nice clip at the glass factory and Billy Brown did a surprisingly street line at St. V's.
Just the other day Mazzone and I went spot searching around English Creek, keeping it on the down low but he got himself 3 really nice clips out there. I'm going back there soon to hopefully pull a semi-decent clip.
Just today I hit up Hammonton with Max and Luke. Max did a few real nice wall rides and we tore up the new spot, there is also a brand new pole jam in Hammonton that I'm sure a lot of you guys could have a lot of fun with.

There are only 48 more days of filming left! Holy crap where does the time go? Make sure you get out and pull any clips you've been sitting on for a while, time to man up.

To Whom It May Concern

I got a new camera, and I'm helping Mike with picking up on some filming. If anybody has anywhere that they are trying to get out to get some clips, then get a hold of one of us.

When It Rains, It Doesn't Always Pour

Sometimes the most fun you'll ever have on a bike is riding with good friends on a flat slab of concrete. It forces you to get creative, it's fun, it's simple. Whats crazy about riding to me is the way it sucks you in, its constantly tugging at your shirt. When it rains it just makes you want to ride even more. Sometimes that makes you appreciate the next day of riding more then the last; sometimes you just ride anyway, even if it means finding a flat pad with a roof just because its the only dry spot to ride in a thirty mile radius. It reminds you why enjoy riding; its pure, its a good time, and that you don't have to ride, you just want to so bad that you will despite the rain. Sometimes thats better then riding even the best street spots, nicest park, or sickest set of trails. Last week Mike and I filmed one such occasion. Song is "It's Gonna Rain" by the Violent Femmes. Enjoy the video, enjoy bike riding.

Jam tomorrow

I talked to a few guys about bringing some more set ups. I think Max is bringing his gear and I'm still trying to get a hold of Louis because he has some real good stuff too.

It will hopefully be a nice little event where a bunch of friends can hang out. I don't know the helmet law but jst in case bring a helmet for if 5-0 comes down, we aren't breaking any laws, it's no different then a bunch of dudes having a football game at the soccer field.

It starts at 12:30/1 o'clock, it would be cool if some guys would get out the early and help me set up.

Who'll stop the rain

The weather has been anything but great lately. The rain has put a halt to street riding all over which is a major bummer. A lot of digging has been going on at Dustin's which is always a great thing, Gettings even drove out the other day to lend a hand. If that isn't motivation to dig then I don't know what is, cause that is not a short drive from Mizpah to Nesco. The plan is to get the titanic set back up to 8 ft landings like it was way back in the day, I think they're at about 6 1/2 ft right now. That's like half an hours work if 3 guys would just go out there and lend a hand. Even if you have no plans of ever hitting the Titanic you should still put in a little work, because if you think about it Dustin doesn't have to let anybody back there, and he's being cool enough to let a bunch of guys back there. So after reading this, you should grab a shovel and go over to Dustin's dirt jumps and help out. There's a new set in the works that includes a 13ft gap speed jump. Unfortunately there is only one double, so get out there and start piling up dirt. It would be amazing to eventually have all of the sets connecting at some point with some gnarly hips and transfers, and it's all possible if you really want to work for it.

Also the Shred Shack in Mays Landing has a pretty set team now, it uncludes Brett Vitalie, Joe North, Victor Behm, Matt Mazzone, Brandon Bunting, Jeremy Kauffman, Billy Brown, myself, Josh Vodopija, Wigglesworth?(I can't remember that guys actual name my bad), and Stephen Carty for skating. I think there are a few more guys that didn't get out to the meeting yesterday like Shaun Thompson and Jesse Landicini who will also be on the team. Brandon and Matt Mazzone will be doing all the video stuff on a seperate "Shred Shack" vimeo account which I'll post a link too whenever it's up.
The shop tee's are pretty dope if I do say. They come in purple or black with sweet green lettering

(Still with the cell phone pictures...really?)

Big thanks to Dennis for hookin everybody up, he's a good dude and his shop kicks major ass.

Fhat the Wuck?

It's October already?

We officially have two more months of filming ahead of us. I'm hoping we have the camera issue fixed by December so I can actually upload the footage we've gathered over the past 4 or 5 months. Right now I have 3 full tapes sitting on my computer desk and the tape in the camera is 3/4 full already.

Right now Billy's part is about wrapped up, he is sitting on a few clips right now that should complete his part. Nick Capaldi hasn't gotten a clip since the civil war but from what I'm hearing his banger is going to be ridiculous. I haven't ridden with Josh Vodopija too much so he hasn't been able to clock as much footage as he'd like but October is usually when everybody shines. I'm riding with Shaun Thompson Sunday I'm hoping he'll do a couple outrageous dirt maneuvers that will blow everybody's mind. He did a tree ride last week out of nowhere and I nearly wet myself because it looked so good. Brandon and Mad Money Matt Mazzone have been putting in a lot of work lately, Brandon is the only guy I've been riding with lately out in Mays Landing. He's still finding different things to do out there which is pretty insane since I thought every spot had been owned by now. Matt has a bunch of good stuff to refilm, especially that infamous gnarly full cab. I haven't ridden with Joe the Northness since Goshen but I heard he's coming mighty close to tailwhips and I look forward to getting a few more clips with him. Gettings and I have been cruising around as of late just being old men with aching body parts. He has a few real nice clips to get out in Cape May and Philly and I think we're going to make another Atlantic City trip before it's all said and done. I haven't seen much of Louis lately, last I heard he painted his bike and couldn't make it out to Hammonton. He truly is a hard man to get in contact with. Hopefully he'll make an appearance at the Mullica jam coming up on the 9th. Mike S has like 5 clips :( when he's not working he's shredding though, I just have to meet up with him one night and I have no doubt that he'll bang out numerous clips.

The friends section is looking pretty tight right now, still searching for the right song but overall the riding is deece. Expect clips from Luke Gajtkowski, Max Loomis, and Jon Clayton amongst other good guys.

Mike S, Gettings, myself, Gary Dimartine, Louis Kerekes and possibly Goggles are going out to Bean town in a few weeks. I've got a few things that aren't manual 180's to film out there and with a crew like this you know some crazy things are going to go down!

New Look

I never thought Mr. Ponz's web design class would actually come in handy one day. But as you can tell the site has a few different things on it. It's all pretty simple right now, and I doubt anybody wants to go on an overcomplicated website anyway. So have fun checking out the new stuff and then go out and shred.

(Notice)
I didn't realize until I was finished that I bit the IB site pretty hard, so sorry about that but I doubt those guys will care haha.

Oh jeez another Mullica jam?

Hell Yeah!

October 9th get out to where the skatepark used to be and enjoy some good times with people you might not get to see any more. I know Gettings is trying to get a hold of a lot of the older skaters that he went there with when he was but a lad. I'm bringing my grind box, flat rail and a couple pallots. Hopefully Billy will be able to bring his Bordz bank which usually winds up being in the middle of a few awesome set ups. I'm sure a couple cones will pop up somewhere. If Max can make it out he'll probably bring his rail and hop bar thingy.

All in all there will be some nasty ramps out there along with some nasty kids so get out there and have some fun.

New video

from the guys over at Stereotyped BMX. Matt recently got his camera back and he decided he wants to start fresh, so he took all the good clips on his camera and put them into this little edit. Shit's nice

XMB

There's a rather large amount of people going to Goshen skate park this Friday due to school being out. Last time we went everybody had a lot of fun, I for one enjoy getting the Piney and Stereotyped guys out all together, it seems to bring out the best in everybody. I don't really expect any of this to go down

but some good shreddin none the less will definitely occur.

We're hoping to be out there by 12:30 or so. If at all possible, get out there somehow. My truck is full and I'm pretty sure Pat's is as well. Gettings is going to be out of commission for a few days due to his wisdom teeth being yanked from the interiors of his mouth but if you the reader can find a way out there and back hop on it.

Some Gnarly Newz

Matt had a tape from the GL2 at his house. It has clips from Brig park, Amanda's field, a couple hammonton trips and a few Mays Landing trips. The only clips lost were from Black Diamond, P-Ville, the Mullica jam and Goshen. I'm pretty sure the lost clips can be redone in time for the November filming deadline.
Pretty soon I'd like to get a Black Diamond trip together. There are about 600 clips that we need to get done out there, hopefully the jacker will be there and we can castrate him while we're at it.

In other news..
Today was the Ocean City shred shack jam. It was a pretty big turn out, Mike Staveckas came out for the first time since smoking cigars on a baseball diamond became illegal. Victor Behm made an appearance and killed anything in his path. Joe North said I think I'll just do another 12 stair, and he did it. Max Loomus popped on out and showed us what new moves he's been workin on. Josh can tooth over hang..nuff said..Billy Brown went nice and high and crashed in Brandon Bunting a lot, Brandon's back wheel said Mercy and gave up. Matt Gettings is way more creative than anybody I know and can do curved wall rides all of a sudden. I crashed on a infant sized Ice pick and took nearly 3,000 tries for one clip. Erik Sammartino was out there, not ridin do to a torn nut sac but it's cool to just shoot the shit with that kid. Kenny Shoulders who I've never ridden with was showing me who the boss was with manual 180s. Dennis was workin the camera all day, he said something about a web video, I have no details on it but I'm stopping out there tomorrow and I'll try to find some more stuff out.

When I have more details on everything I'll post em up on this jawnsy jawn
Love peace and anal grease

I also just realized I never posted this awesome web video up. Brandon did real good on this one..

:'(

I'll never forget the day John Griffin brought home what would later be dubbed the legendary "Griffwood". I was a gay little skater wearing some Jnco jeans when I saw Mr. Griff in his Gnarly Toyota truck luggin these super nice wooden ramps. Needless to say I immediately ran to John's backyard to see these fantastic wooden structures. It was two 3 foot wide banks, a 6 foot long deck with a grind box on the side of it. As an 11 year old in Nesco, this was the sickest thing I've ever seen. John and his dad got the ramps all set up and John began jumping it on his legendary S&M black bike. I only had my skateboard at the moment so I dropped in on the banks into the dirt, regardless I thought that was the shit.
Eventually John and Nick Hagaman built the "Quarter pipe" that would lay rest on the other side of the burm. I remember trying to roll up it and fakie rollout countless times. One time Nick Hagaman did a fastplant 180 on it and I nearly pooped in my pants. Then came the Louis times. Louis jumped the bank to bank came around the burm 100mph and hit the "quarter pipe" as a launch ramp and gapped over the deck into the bank that was supposed to be jumped off of, not onto.
Photobucket
I remember Jon Clayton's older brother Cory parking his purple car in between the two ramps and jumping over his car, I don't think there are any pictures of that but if John has any in his storage unit I'll be sure to post them.

John and Nick eventually put the "spine" in, which started as a dirt jump. Some crazy neighbor of John's gave him a handicap ramp to use for shreddin because he saw "The Crew" outside shreddin some wicked grindbox's. So he put that handicap ramp on the landing of the dirt jump then built another little kicker to use as the lip. I remember Richie J and I not wanting to hit the spine because we thought we'd get hung up and die. Years later Jon Clayton took "spine" riding to new extremes when he gapped from the spine to the big bank which brings me to the next chapter in the story of griffwood.

I can't remember if it was John's 18th or 19th birthday but he wanted to make somthing that everybody would be stoked on. He said, let's make a legit boxjump and that's what we did. It took about a weeks time but the end result was sooo good. I remember driving to Home Dept with John and Louis and the Toyota. It was a snug fit so John couldn't reach the shifter. So John had to push in the clutch while Louis shifted all the way home, pretty outrageous. With help from Matt Gettings, Louis Kerekes and the legend himself Emory Silipigni the ramp got done before the deadline.

Some of my favorite memories on the final set up were Nick Hagaman attempting to nose manual the entire deck and just going right over the bars scraping his chiiiiiin down the entire ramp along with his only clip in the crew video, his super smooth buttery jumps over the ramp haha. Matt Gettings starting from Emory's front door to clear the ramp because of the gnarly run way. Luke Gajtkowski trying to 360 and just falling off to the left almost eliminating himself on a shovel. Building the tree stand for a "Super good" angle for jumping it, turned out to be the worst angle ever and the first rung of the steps fell out as soon as I jumped on it sending me straight to my back.

A day in Nesco Episode 1: Griffwood from piney bmx on Vimeo.

One of the better web videos I've made happened to be entirely filmed at Griffwood.

Last week I had to do one of the hardest things in my life. Help with the destruction of the Griffwood. The ramps were getting too rickety and dangerous to ride and John didn't want somebody he didn't know to get hurt back there and sue sue sue. I can't really blame him, it was a pretty smart move because last time I was back there tryin Nothings I landed in the middle of the deck and heard a loud thump. The entire first support beam had snapped off. John hit me up several days later about taking it down and although it killed me a little inside I went over with emory and helped moved the rotten ramps over the side. Matt Gettings picked up the only remaining ramp that was intact, the big bank. It's now a hip set up at his house, when he sends me a picture of it I'll post it up on here.

New Names and other happenings

First off I'd like to welcome Shaun Thompson aboard. He'll be filming a lot more with us and hopefully he'll be able to get a full part in the DVD. His riding speaks for itself and he's one of the most modest kids I know. His parents used to run the "Extreme Kids Stuff" Bike shop in Hammonton. If the name sounds familiar you've probably heard it from the kids talkin about "That guy throwin whips at Patmos" haha. I'm stoked to have him aboard and gettin him places outside of Patmos and Hammonton.

Photobucket

I wish I could've gotten an actual picture of this wallride, sooo huge from gutter to gutter!

He later took a spill on this same wallride, causing him to grow a third knee and leak a lot of blood from his hands and elbows

Evidently the police don't want us riding at Advanced Auto Parts anymore, we haven't had a complaint from any of the employees in about 3 years but this one cop said that they called and talked to them about people "chewing up" the side of dock even though it's been like that for about as long as I can remember. I'm sure people will continue to ride that place, it just sucks seeing another great riding spot shut down by some toolbags in Hammonton.

The intro for the DVD is all written out and ready to go. Emory and I have to work out a day to get this bad boy done, so suped to be workin with that guy.

Still Hungry

Even after the unfortunate loss of the last camera guys are still firing out clips. It seems that everybody is still really pumped to ride which is super good. We filled up a tape and a half already on Capaldi's camera. I'm making sure nothing will ever happen to the tapes so we can save these clips. A lot of Ocean City riding has been going down lately, it's a nice area, I'm yet to be hounded by anyone for riding street spots though I may just be in the right place at the right time, the park is super fun during the day time and the cops ride their bicycles right past us shredding away.

Yesterday Brandon Bunting, Luke Gajtkowski, Josh Vodopija, Matt Gettings, Matt Mazzone and myself killed the streets of Mays Landing which I once thought was impossible. I think Brandon is putting together a web video tonight while still saving a few clips for the actual Piney DVD. If Brandon keeps putting work in like he's been doin he's probably going to wind up with his own section in the DVD, but now that I've said that I'm sure the other stereotyped niggas are going to put in double time to bang out some outrageous clips.

This Friday there is going to be a big AC street session, try to get out there guys it's going to be super good and I'm sure a lot of great riding will go down.

Also a Black Diamond trip is in order, hopefully the dirtbag that jacked the camera will be there and we can rip his chest hair off, but if not at least try to bang out all the clips we've lost from there in the past.

I'll post the web video from yesterday on here tonight as soon as Brandon sends me over a link.
